What this section is about?

What is street art?

Street-art has been considered for a long time as vulgar drawings and paintings that you do on walls. Often non-permanent, through time, they have gained a real place into the society and are considered as a form of art.

Street-art is defined as an art movement, an expression of art that is unconventional, that does not follow initiatives taken by governments.

But why I am writing about street-art?

As I explained in the about us section (if you haven’t read it, I invite you too, so you can learn about the whole team), I’ve been living in England, in Bristol exactly. Bristol is known for being the eventual birthplace of Banksy, one of the street-art’s precursor. Since the 1990s, Banksy has been nourishing the street-art world and has allowed a certain recognition.

In Bristol, you can’t walk through the city without seeing a building, a wall or a garage’s door without a piece of art. This place is living around street-art and some places are dedicated to street-art and artists.

This whole adventure of living there had opened my eyes to street-art and now that I’m back in France, I never saw that much street-art than ever. I remark things I never noticed and I’m more aware of the things that are happening around me.

This section aims to share my opinion about street-art, but mainly about the influence that social media had on street art. Indeed, would street art be what it is without the internet and social platforms?

I will talk also about the development of street art and how now, social media are the street art's vitamins.

I’ll go through topics that I’m interested in, but mainly the topics I know something about. I want to share my interest in this, so maybe you can see what I see, and you make me see what you see.

If you have any suggestions about things you want me to talk about,

places to include, recommendations of where to see pieces of street-art,

or anything else, make sure to tell me in the comments or the FAQ

section.
